In the exhibition 'Unstable Sculpture', Cyanne van den Houten brings together robotic sculptures created using algorithms. The sculptures each have their own logic, life and character determined by everyday technology. In the central chat box, they talk to each other and fantasise about each other's messaging. They speculate on the hidden history of queerness in Utrecht, about female computer scientists and draw parallels between witchcraft and technology. Together, Van den Houten and the robots invite visitors to reflect on the non-binary and magical potential of artificial intelligence, as well as the ethical, social and artistic implications involved.
Cyanne was inspired by windows from our Utrecht rainbow canon: "I've been following you guys for a while and love what you're doing."
