Historic rainbow walk

3 August 2022

Utrechter, on foot through queer history

We stand on the shoulders of the warriors who came before us. They paved the way for us to increasingly be who we are. But who were these warriors?

Evert van der Veen takes you through Utrecht's rainbow history. He takes you - walking through the beautiful Utrecht city centre - further and further back into queer history. There is much more to experience than traffic lights and zebra crossings. Discover UU's gay studies department in the 1980s, the oldest women's bookstore in the Netherlands and rebellious students in the 1970s, the underground COC in the 1960s, the celebrated Utrecht trans between the world wars, the criminalisation of homosexuality in 1911, the sodomite persecution in 1730, rich pink life in the 18the century, and so on. Want to know more about the heroes of our past? Then connect!

Date and time: Friday, August 28, 7pm-8.15pm.
Location: Start from Queer Villa Utrecht, Concordiastraat 67A, Utrecht; end at café Kalff, Oudegracht 47, Utrecht.

Tickets available at the Queer Film Festival / Queer Villa Utrecht, info@qffu.nl
