SODEMIETER is a distinctly queer event full of stories, encounters, and action – a prelude to Pride Week 2026.
SODEMIETER marks the start of a broader movement toward a full-fledged Utrecht Pride Week in 2026. Not just one day of flag waving, but a week packed with initiative, visibility, and collaboration—born within the city itself. During the event, three queer city heroes will be given a platform, followed by an interactive program where visitors will develop ideas together and be encouraged to launch their own initiatives.
We're reclaiming the name "Sodemieter"—once a Utrecht insult—as a word of power. With pride, visibility, and activism, we're giving the word meaning back. At a time when queer rights are under pressure, we choose connection, inspiration, and lasting visibility.
SODEMIETER is a community-driven event for LGBTQIA+ people, local queer initiatives, allies, and engaged Utrecht residents. Through three Utrecht-based projects—Joost de Host, So-Sjaal, and Bar Sjoef—we are collaborating to create an accessible space for encounters, storytelling, and activation.
